Help!! What would you wear????

So the Baton Rouge Beach Half Marathon is tomorrow, and it is supposed to be 34 degrees at the start, and only 42 by the time I hope to finish!!! OF COURSE this would happen, since I've been praying for that perfect mid 50s weather...the last half was too warm (60s), and now this one, two weeks later, is freezing! No fair.

Anyway, it gets that cold here about twice a year, so I have no idea what to wear!! To all you northern runners, what would you wear in 34-44 degree weather with 76% humidity? A long sleeve and a jacket? Short sleeve to? Or instead of long sleeve? Pants and tights, or just pants? (Not proper running tights so can't wear them alone..too see through!). I have about 15 hours until I leave my house for the race....

Less is best. I think shorts and a base singlet with a long sleeve Tech shirt over it would be your best bet. Dont forget light gloves. With a half marathon you will be running fast enough to generate quite a bit of body heat so I wouldnt be to worried about being cold except at the start.

Shorts and a tank with long sleeves over so you could shed the longer sleeves if need be. You could do tights but I think that may get too hot. Or maybe sweats you can throw away? I've heard of that but I've never been in a race long enough to need to throw anything away.

Funny, I would have LOVED that temperature for the marathon instead of the 20 degrees!! Anyway, what about a pair of running tights and a long sleeve running shirt? Wear an old long sleeve shirt or something that you can throw away while running and won't mind losing. If you tend to stay warm, do the long sleeve shirt w/ shorts.

i would just start off with long sleeves on but take them off when you get warm... and gloves! if you have either of them that you dont care about you can just wear them until you are done and toss them.

I get hot in tights (even during the 20-odd degree Philly marathon), so I'd go with the shorts & a long sleeve running shirt. You can put throwaway sweatpants & sweatshirt that you can ditch later on. Oh, & I agree with everyone else - GLOVES!

34 - 43°? Hmm. It really depends what you are acclimated to. I'd definitely suggest layering. Probably capri pants, a short sleeve tech tee, topped with a long sleeve tech tee or something slightly heavier. Given the humidity I think a jacket might be a bit too much.

The other option is find an old cotton LS t-shirt or sweatshirt that you don't want anymore, and just throw it away on the course when you warm up.

Good luck!

Well I'm not a less is best person cause I hate being cold..so here is what I wear

layer 1 is a long sleeve dry fit shirt, layer 2 is a dryfit thick shirt or a pullover of somekind.
Pants I just wear one pair of my warm winter dryfit pants and then my thick winter dryfit socks and gloves... probably go without the hat.
I swear it's the dryfit that makes it all work.

i'm only from sc but for those race weather conditions i'd wear shorts and a long sleeve tech and some gloves. i'd say go for a tank/tee underneath if you get warm easily. you'll also probably toss (or remove and hold) the gloves after awhile but they'll be nice to have while you wait around pre-start and in the first couple of miles.

Sorry, I can't help you. My instinct is to go with a parka.

That sound like the weater for my marathon, and I went with a compression long-sleeved shirt and shorts. Headband and gloves too, but I ended up taking those off at one point.

We have more than 2 days of cold though, so I may be a more used to the cold than you.

Good luck, you'll do great!

I have been reading for awhile and wanted to pop in and say hello. Also that you are very inspiring! I know this is a little late...but good luck! Too late to comment on what you should wear though...!
