And now the fun begins.... :(

So things have been going along swimmingly....I have actually been blessed with a completely complications free pregnancy. The biggest annoyance I've had to deal with is ridiculous swelling in my feet....until now.

Friday I started to get the slightest twinges of nerve pain in my lower back, on the right side. From dealing with sciatica for nearly a year from running I was immediatley thinking, "Great, here we go". And of course it got worse...by the time I left work Saturday I was hobbling around with shooting pain through my right leg. Yesterday I could barely walk at all, and today- the same :(

This greatly saddens me, as the main advice they give you to encourage the baby to be born is to walk! Not only that, but it looks like I'll be stopping working my second job about three shifts before I planned to even consider it....so that's basically about $300 I won't have....so much for paying phone and cable!

Anyone have anything that worked for them to make sciatic nerve pain manageable? The chiropractor really helped me before, when it was running related, but how exactly do you get a baby off your spine?

At least on the bright side, 17 more days!!!

Or Maybe THIS time? :)

Soooooo..

Long time since last fall, and a lot has happened since then! In the end of September I was training (well, very loosely speaking, that is) for the Marine Corps Marathon and looking forward to the Atlanta Marathon.

MCM came and went, and was actually ok! I will have to check my time to update, but it wasn't TOTALLY as horrible as I expected....I actually probably ran 23 miles and walked 3, with the first 20 being continuous. And I enjoyed it tremendously, weather was amazing and I took a TON of pictures. So all in all it was a great race. I will put up some pictures eventually...

Also at that time I had started seeing someone new. That really took off and was partially responsible for my lack of posting!

The Atlanta Marathon came, and due to the new relationship I had not been training! I switched to the half, actually did ok (2:11, I want to say?) and had a great time. Stayed in Atlanta for about 5 days, and had a really nice time. Although I was REALLY missing someone... :)

Once I returned, training once again went by the wayside. I was super busy, it was the holidays, and between all that and a fairly new relationship I just sort of fell out of running. Or working out at all really. I started feeling really lethargic and just not myself, and low and behold eventually found out we were having a baby!

Now this is not how things were supposed to go at all. But, what can you do? I weakly attempted to stay in shape over the next few months....even did the Mardi Gras Half Marathon at 14 weeks pregnant. I was pretty proud of myself for that, actually :) We ran only about 3 miles of the MG 1/2 and it was really uncomfortable...kudos to all you ladies that run far into your pregnancies!! That was pretty much the last time I ran, I think....

I continued walking, going to the gym and generally trying to stay in shape for most of the next few months. I was still really regularly doing my 6 mile loop until 6 months pregnant. Then in June my boyfriend moved into my house, and we entered a whirlwind two months of cleaning, organizing, unloading furniture, painting, setting up the baby's room, and travelling. We had baby showers in NH and also in LA and TX, and pretty much every hour of every day was spoken for.

Fastforward to now, beginning of August, and I have only gone walking once a week (3 miles) for the last two weeks. I had gained weight pretty moderately during most of the pregnancy, but have added 11 lbs in the last 5 weeks!!! Ugh. I am due in 3 weeks (or please please please a little sooner???) and will absolutely die if that means another 6 lbs. So anyway- fitness has gone out the window (at least recently) and I am really looking forward to getting it back!

I am feeling really motivated to get back in shape. One, because I have added A LOT of weight that I'm not used to, and Two because I really miss it. Three- my sister is also embarking on a new weight loss/ fitness plan and it's always motivating to have someone to get in shape with. I can't wait to take the baby in my jogging stroller and am looking forward to some fall races.

Here's the main catch: I don't have much time....baby is due 8/27 (it's a boy!) and I am registered for a half marathon here in town on 10/10. I know that sounds crazy, but we NEVER have long local races, so I didn't want to miss it, and I also plan to only walk it so it should be doable, right? My primary goal is really to use it as training for the Women's Half Marathon in St. Petersburg, Florida on November 21...I am so excited for that race!! If either race allows strollers (which they never do but I always see on course....so annoying!!) I might take Alexander along for the ride. I may even try walking one with him in the baby bjorn, but not sure :)

So anyway, trying to come back to blogging, get back in shape, and otherwise document the boring details of the life of our little family :) I will get up recent pics soon, and hope I can be more dedicated this time around! I figure at a minimum I'll probably be pretty good about posting while on maternity leave, but I'm hoping for friends and family that it can turn into a way to stay in touch too.

Next on the agenda....catching up on y'all's blogs! I may just have to clear the reader and start over.....
